JK Police capable to tackle any challenge, says DGP | KNO

Directs cops, officers to be well prepared for LS polls

Jammu, March 26 (KNO) : Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, Tuesday visited twin districts Anantnag and Shopain of South Kashmir, reviewed security preparedness for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The state police addressed darbar of officers/jawans at respective District Police Lines. DGP also visited IRP Battalions 17th at Kheribal and 10th at Mattan and District Jail Anantnag. Continuing with his interaction with Police personnel, the Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh first visited district Anantnag. On his arrival, DGP was presented with guard of honour at the places he visited in the twin districts. He was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Swayam Prakash Pani and DIG SKR Atul Goel. Addressing the darbars of officers and jawans in these districts, the DGP said that policemen are always prepared for any challenges whether it is law and order, election or any routine duty. He said that policemen have to mould themselves according to the situation. He said J&K Police is capable to tackle any challenge but have to be more sensitive and to do extra hard work during the tough times. The DGP said, people admire the capabilities and work of the Jammu and Kashmir Police for fighting on different fronts which includes the terrorism and law & order challenges. He said that police has given hundreds of sacrifices and at the cost of their personal comforts and supreme sacrifices, it has been trying to provide a safe secure environment for the people. Appreciating the performance of the police personnel in Panchayat and local bodies elections, the DGP directed the force personnel and officers to be well prepared for the upcoming Parliamentary elections. At DPL Anantnag, the DGP also appreciated the Police officers for providing talent platforms for youth through cultural programes under Civic Action Programme. DGP also listened to the grievances of the personnel with regard to welfare, housing and assured that more positive steps shall be taken in this regard. SSP Anantnag Altaf Ahmad Khan thanked the DGP for sparing some time and sharing his valuable thoughts with the personnel of District Police Anantnag. He assured the DGP that the district will continue to work with professionalism for the service of the people. On this occasion, the DIG CRPF Mohsin Shahidi, DC Anantnag Khalid Jahangir, Commandant IRP 10th Fayaz Ahmad, Commandant IRP 11th Altaf Ahmad, Commandant IRP 17th Bn. Benam Tosh and other senior officers of police were present. Earlier, on reaching Anantnag DGP along with IG Kashmir and DIG South Kashmir visited Armed 17th Bn. Headquarters and inaugurated cultural programme to boost the morale of local artists and students from 8 schools who were participating in the event. On the occasion, DGP said JK Police has always given and in future also ready to provide platform for local talent so that they can improve their talents. DGP also visited IRP 10th Bn. and District Jail Anantnag. He took stock of the security and also functioning of jail. Senior officers of Prison department and Police were present on the occasion. At Shopian, he interacted with the SHOs SDPOs and others officers and jawans and commended the outstanding work done by district police not only on in professional work but also bridging the gaps with the people. He paid tributes to the officers and jawan who sacrificed their lives at the alter of duty.(KNO)
